What is ReAnima?

ReAnima is the first independent animated film festival in Bergen, Norway's second largest city. We are born as a response to the prevailing need to give the city a space of interaction with and diffusion of animated art in all its aspects: traditional, conceptual, experimental and any other possibilities within the animated image.
Our first goal is to attract the greatest possible audience with the best quality of national and international animation, with visual art interventions in different parts of the city. We expect interaction from the public and we commit to arouse interest and curiosity for animated art in its numerous expressions.
Our long-term goal is to make ReAnima become a point of reference for global animation; a platform in which international creation is enriched with influences by all creators, from North to South and from East to West without walls of ideology, wealth, religion, race and sex.
Thanks to an interconnected global network of festivals around the world, we will be able to screen our program internationally around the world. Working in correlation with other art disciplines, we will promote a solid and liquid reflection on new expressions of animated art.
We will create ideal spaces to screen, to learn about and to debate on animation. In addition, we will keep our eyes open for new animation avant-gardes and we will keep up to date with any content on the world of animation, its technology, creators, events, festivals and much more.

¡Welcome to this wonderful expanded festival called ReAnima!

About us

We are an enterprising and professional group working in cinema, culture and digital marketing. We have felt the need to have an alternative animated film festival in Bergen. Although Norway has great animators and great works of animation, it seems that animated art is not very well known in the country. There are few festivals exclusively dedicated to animation but in our opinion they lack an open spirit. From the trenches of our knowledge we seek to change this situation and try to teach a wider audience to enjoy and understand what animated art is all about. And we try to achieve it by being open to novelties, differences and international influences.

Dewey Hall

Mr. Kropka
Festival Director and Producer.

He is a scriptwriter for cinema, television and animation that in recent years has been specializing in and writing about international animation. Since 2013 he has organized various animation events around the world involving festivals so different and diverse as: Etiuda & Anima, Stoptrik, Animateka, Animasivo and Animafest among others. In addition he organized a small European distribution circuit for the Mexican Animasivo festival and other individual screenings in cultural centres, achieving that several festivals work together for the sake of the big passion that unites them all – animation. It is perhaps this independent and outside-the-rules spirit that made him seriously consider founding ReAnima in Bergen, an improbable place for an outside-the-rules international animation festival. He belive that ReAnima is cultural and artistic way of helping to maintain a cohesive society but with new perspectives to understanding and dialoguing with the global environment in our times.

Solveig Øybekk Paasche
General coordinator.

She was born and grew up in Bergen. After high school she studied Visual Arts on Sunnhordland Folk High School. After she tried to understand the chaotic world and started to study Intercultural Understanding on the NLA University College. When she understood that all people don’t want to agree on disagreeing, she discovered how to help some people in the local society. This led her to Bergen University College where she graduated as a disability nurse. When working Solveig realized that creativity could be a good tool for disabled people to express their feelings and emotions. She will start new studies in Expressive Arts Therapy in Drammen next year. For a while she will work for ReAnima as a general coordinator and with one of her big passions, the animated art.
